Global Treasury Structure and Bank Relationship Management: Design, Bank Selection and Implementation at Vale
Vale is a Brazil-based mining company with operations and subsidiaries in Europe, Asia/Pacific, Latin America, Middle East/Africa and North America. As a large and complex global business, Vale faced a unique set of challenges when designing its global account structure, including regulatory constraints and the inability of banks to meet their demanding requirements. Additionally, the company’s status among the top 50 companies in the world by market capitalization added a degree of scale to virtually every aspect of the project. This case study shows how the company went about the project: from designing its account structure, to selecting a group of banks to deliver the required accounts, to service implementation.
